We're dealing with the tradition of Rock & Roll. Dean & Mark played in a band at school. Russell & Dean met at a gig and became the songwriting team of "Roman Antix" a N.Z. band signed to Jayrem in 1984. Don joined in 1986. At the end of the year Russell left NZ to return to Australia, Dean followed soon after. Dean met Garth in Sydney in 1987. Mark was in Spain working as a solo act, Don moved to Australia in 1990. While making their livings separately and together from music and other related entertainment industries four gathered regularly to play and write while continuing to tour with other bands(Amnesia, Happy Cardboard, Beyond Recall, Getaway Plane, Original Sin, Trouble Shooters, Toot Sweet, Murphy's Law, World on Fire, Gunslinger & One Hit Wonders). A chance meeting with Charles Fisher in 1992 started a new period of focus. From that time on and even more so in '94 & '95 schedules and obligations were readjusted continuosly to allow the band to perform and record in Sydney, Los Angeles and Whangaparoa NZ. Due to their now vast collection of life experiences new material poured onto tape. While in NZ Mark sat in on a live show and the circle was complete. It was a long time since they had toured crammed into a Hiace van with PA and backline but the excitement and energy they shared as teenagers had now been matured and so 30 Odd Foot of Grunts reflects all the miles in between.
After numerous conversations with record companies on both sides of the Pacific a very simple arrangement was reached with Roadshow music. The first single is "The Photograph Kills".
